Expect the local route to demand a GPU with substantial memory, a Python environment and some patience with dependencies. Once running, the payoff is control: custom checkpoints, LoRA adapters, ControlNet guidance and no per-image cost. The main thing that trips people up is licensing. Model versions sit under different community and commercial terms depending on revenue and use, so confirm which licence applies to the exact model you downloaded before shipping anything built on it. Keep a note of the exact model version and licence you used, because reproducing a result months later is otherwise guesswork.
